Children need positive, adult role models in their lives, but unfortunately, many children don’t get the much-needed, one-on-one attention they need. This is where Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois comes in. They pair up young children with a caring adult to be a positive influence on the child’s life.
That is why, here at Jack Schmitt Chevrolet of O’Fallon, we are such big supporters of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Last year, we collected cleaning supplies for the organization. This year, we are currently accepting donations of new board games. These games will be used to build relationships between the children and adults in the program.
If you are looking for ways to make a difference in our community, apply to be a Big Brother or Big Sister today. The program is particularly looking for men as over 70% of the children waiting for a Big are boys.
While not everyone can volunteer to be a Big, there are other ways you can help. You can make a donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters and help invest in a child’s future. Or, if you have a child or know one who you think would benefit from this program, sign them up.
